Hennessy VSOP Limited Edition x UVA: Lights, Cognac, action!
As Cognac and art come together once more in 2020, the Hennessy VSOP Privilege Limited Edition Cognac by UVA paves the way for future innovations. Collaborating with London-based art collective United Visual Artists (UVA), Maison Hennessy have revamped their classic Cognac for a new limited edition. UVA have composed a dynamic kinetic light installation inspired by the beauty of Hennessy eaux-de-vie and the creation process. Their “Harmonics” piece has been captured in the time-space continuum, and is the first of its kind. The VSOP by Hennessy is the transmission of savoir-faire from eight different Master Blenders. Aged for well over 4 years in partially-used oak casks, it is perfectly balanced. The founder of UVA, Matthew Clark and his associate Maximo Recio, were captivated by the synergies between their kinetic light installations and the craft of the Hennessy master blender, Renaud Fillioux de Gironde. UVA then began to create their very own art installation inspired by the making of the Hennessy VSOP. Each eaux-de-vie belongs to a specific time in history, and their combination is unique. These “time capsules” in each of the barrels are similar to the many lights that reach us from distant stars and far away planets; each one existing in a totally different time and space - yet we perceive them blended together as one. This Cognac is a symphony of light and sound; transported from its glass bottle, or on a table or shelf - into a new dimension entirely. The composition of light arcs creates sculptural forms, and time works its magic in and outside the bottle.
